Below is the application for the Honors Scholars Scholarship. Please answer each question and upload the required essay at the end. For both the short answer questions and essay, refrain from using any sort of generative AI (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini). The best responses to the prompts will be honest and personal, exploring the ideas in your own voice.
Once you click submit, you are unable to make any changes. The Honors Scholars Scholarship Committee will meet and decide whom they would like to interview. Interviews take place in January, and decisions will be released sometime in late February.

Curiosity, imagination, and breadth of interests are defining characteristics of successful students in the UT Tyler Honors College. We encourage originality and exploration of the human experience, especially through your unique journey and intellectual curiosity. Given this background, consider and then write an essay of no more than 500 words in response to the following:
The Intergalactic Council has decided to consider asking the people of Earth to become members of its peaceful and life-affirming alliance. We have 24 hours to make the argument for the value of humanity to the emissary the IC has dispatched. You have been selected to make the argument by showing the alien emissary around the human experience. Write an essay of not more than 500 words in which you describe how you go about this important mission. Make sure to use your own experience along with whatever artistic, cultural, or other human resources you think demonstrate the best of humanity and its as yet untapped possibilities or potential.
